Kyle Walker set to Join Burnley on a 2-year deal

After falling out of love at the Etihad stadium under Pep Guardiola, English star, Kyle Walker is set to return the Premier League with newly promoted side Burnley.

The 35-year old is set sign a two-year contract with the Clarets bringing his 8 year reign with Manchester City to an end. At City, Walker won  17 trophies including six Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League.

Softfootball gathered that Kyle Walker’s City contract was set to expire next summer and Burnley will have to cough out £5m to get the bag of experience he is coming to the Clarets with.

Despite playing for Guardiola 15 times in the last campaign, he was shipped out on loan to Serie A side, AC Milan for second half of the 2024-25 season after he clashed with the City gaffer a few times. AC Milan were not interested in signing the English right back on a long term despite his 16 appearances across all competitions for the black and red.

The defender who was part of Thomas Tuchel’s England squad during June’s international fixtures and won his 96th cap in a 3-1 friendly loss to Senegal, was left behind by City for the FIFA Club World Cup alongside Jack Grealish who also seems to be uncertain about his City future.

Walker will link up with former teammate, now Burnley boss, Scott Parker, who he played alongside at Tottenham during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons and will become Burnley’s fifth summer signing, with defender Axel Tuanzebe, left-back Quilindschy Hartman, goalkeeper Max Weiss and French winger Loum Tchaouna.

Recall Softfootball had earlier reported how the Clarets were working hard to keep their captain, Josh Brownhill who scored 18 goals for them last season. Ahead of the 2025/206 Premier League season, Scott Parker will be without his captain Josh Brownhill who has now become a free agent.

Burnley returned to Gawthorpe today  after an 8 weeks holiday as they prepare for the new season kicking off in August. Big teams like  Everton, West Ham and Rangers will be looking to sign up the now free agent if nothing changes in a couple of days as Burnley have laid new contractual terms on the table.
