The Nigerian Flamingos have returned to Nigeria following their successful campaign at the 2026 WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
The team arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 7:45 p.m. on September 28, 2026, after being crowned champions of the competition.
Nigeria secured the title with a commanding 4-0 victory over Togo in the final, capping off an impressive tournament run.
The Flamingos finished the competition with five wins from five matches, collecting all 15 available points while scoring 17 goals and conceding just two.
Their perfect record ensured Nigeria lifted the WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup trophy without suffering a defeat throughout the tournament.
It was a dominant campaign from the Flamingos, who combined attacking quality, defensive solidity and consistency to emerge as unbeaten champions.
The team was received on arrival by members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), who welcomed the players and officials back to the country after their successful outing.
The triumph marks another significant achievement for Nigeria’s women’s youth football programme and highlights the team’s dominance throughout the regional competition.
