Ferran Torres has revealed his preference for a Spanish player to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or after making a major move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain.
Speaking during an appearance on El Hormiguero, Torres was asked about the prestigious individual award and refused to name a specific player as his choice. However, the PSG forward admitted that he would prefer to see a fellow Spaniard take home the prize.
“If a Spaniard wins it, even better,” Torres said, making his preference clear while leaving the final decision to the voters.
Softfootball understands that Torres’ comments come at an important moment in his career after completing his switch from Barcelona to PSG during the summer.
The Spanish forward left Camp Nou after four and a half seasons with the Catalan giants, making 207 appearances, scoring 65 goals and winning seven trophies. His final season in Spain was particularly impressive, with 16 La Liga goals earning him the Zarra Trophy alongside Barcelona teammate Lamine Yamal.
PSG agreed a deal with Barcelona for Torres, with the transfer initially reported at around €50 million before bonuses and add-ons could take the total package close to €55 million. The move also reunited him with Luis Enrique, his former Spain coach.
Torres has already made a positive start in Paris and is now looking to continue his development under Enrique while competing at the highest level.
Softfootball notes that his Ballon d’Or preference could attract attention given the strong Spanish presence among this year’s nominees, including Lamine Yamal, Rodri, Pau Cubarsí, Marc Cucurella, Fabián Ruiz and Torres himself.
