On Friday 18th September 2026, Super Falcons midfielder Deborah Abiodun has undergone surgery after picking up the injury that ruled her out earlier in September 2026, when Deborah Abiodun and Esther Okoronkwo were confirmed out for the rest of the 2026 season.

The 22‑year‑old ends her campaign having made nine appearances in all competitions for Washington Spirit, with four starts and 320 minutes played.

She has now completed her surgery and has begun the rehabilitation process, focusing fully on recovery.

Speaking about the successful procedure, Abiodun shared an emotional message on her official instagram handle encouraging players going through similar situations. This was her statement:

It’s tough sometimes, but you gotta keep going. Thank you everyone for your kind words and prayers. The first slide is there to motivate players, especially younger ones, that might be in a similar situation like myself. I was scared and nervous. It gets better, hang in there.

Abiodun remains ruled out for the entire 2026/27 season, with no confirmed return date. Softfootball can confirm that her recovery is long‑term, and her focus is now on completing rehabilitation without rushing back.
