Janet Akekoromowei has reacted after picking up the Player of the Match award in Nigeria’s 3–0 victory over England U20, a result that sent the Falconets into the quarter‑finals of the 2026 FIFA U‑20 Women’s World Cup.

In an interview shared by Nigerian sports journalist Dr Victor Ademola, Akekoromowei was seen thanking God and appreciating her teammates for their performances. She described herself as “the happiest person” after the win.

She added that this was her first Player of the Match award in the tournament and dedicated it to her teammates for their support and teamwork.
