FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee has handed out major fines and suspensions to the Argentine Football Association (AFA), four Argentine players, one team official, and Spain’s Gavi, following the altercation that erupted after the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain.

- Leandro Paredes — 10‑match suspension and $90,000 fine
- Nahuel Molina — 7‑match suspension and $90,000 fine
- Thiago Almada — 1 match suspension and $30,000 fine
- Roberto Ayala — 3 match suspension and $30,000 fine for an altercation with Dani Olmo
- Gavi — 1 match suspension and $30,000 fine
Softfootball also gathered that FIFA has fined the AFA a total of $321,000 and ordered Argentina to play their next two matches with limited stadium capacity as part of the disciplinary measures.
These sanctions follow what FIFA described as serious breaches of conduct during the heated scenes after Spain’s victory in the 2026 World Cup final.
