Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has ruled out the possibility of signing Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal, despite describing the young Spanish star as a very good player during a recent interview.
As gathered by Softfootball, Mourinho was asked about the possibility of bringing Yamal to the Spanish capital but quickly dismissed the idea, pointing to the strength and quality already available within his Real Madrid squad.
The Portuguese coach returned to the Santiago Bernabéu this summer on a contract running until 2029 and has already overseen significant changes to the squad.
Yamal has emerged as one of Barcelona’s most important players despite his young age. The teenager’s rapid rise has also made him one of the most valuable young players in world football, but Mourinho’s latest comments suggest Real Madrid have no intention of testing Barcelona’s resolve.
The situation further highlights the fierce rivalry between the two Spanish giants. Mourinho has extensive experience of that rivalry from his previous spell in charge of Madrid, where he frequently faced Barcelona during one of the most intense periods in El Clásico history.
For now, Yamal remains firmly at Barcelona, while Mourinho is focused on building his own squad and competing for major honours at Real Madrid.
