Softfootball understands that Mykhaylo Mudryk is travelling to Hong Kong today to rejoin Chelsea’s pre-season squad, becoming immediately available to manager Xabi Alonso following the resolution of his long-running doping case.

The Ukrainian winger has been out of action since November 2024 after receiving a provisional suspension for testing positive for meldonium. However, the Football Association and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) have now concluded the case, accepting a suspension equivalent to the time he has already served.

With the ban officially behind him, Mudryk is set to return to Chelsea’s first-team environment for the first time in almost two years.

Mudryk has also received support from former Shakhtar manager Roberto De Zerbi, who expressed his delight at seeing the Ukrainian return to football. De Zerbi described the winger as someone very close to him following their successful time together in Ukraine, adding that he is pleased to see Mudryk finally given the opportunity to resume his career.

Chelsea will now focus on gradually reintegrating the winger into Alonso’s squad, with the club viewing his return as an important boost ahead of the new season.
