Former Flying Eagles striker Suleiman Abdullahi has terminated his contract with Swedish club IFK Göteborg.

The 28-year-old joined the Swedish side from Bundesliga club Union Berlin in 2022 but struggled to make a significant impact due to recurring injuries.

Abdullahi scored just one goal in 30 appearances for the club.

IFK Göteborg sporting director Hannes Stiller confirmed the decision, saying both parties agreed that they had not got the best out of their relationship but would remain on good terms.

Speaking via the club’s official website, Stiller said:

Sulle’ has struggled despite several lingering injuries. Neither he nor we feel that we got the most out of each other, but we part as very good friends. Sulle is a nice guy who we wish success in his next club.

Before joining IFK Göteborg, Abdullahi played for Norwegian side Viking FK and German club Eintracht Braunschweig.

The forward will now look to secure a new club and revive his career after bringing his time in Sweden to an early end.
