Brentford have reached a verbal agreement to sign RC Lens midfielder Mamadou Sangare in what is set to become the club’s record transfer.

The Bees have agreed a £41 million deal with the French club, with Sangare scheduled to undergo his medical today before signing his contract over the weekend.

The move represents another major statement of intent from Brentford as they continue strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.

The agreement comes just weeks after Softfootball confirmed Brentford were closing in on the signing of experienced striker Callum Wilson.

The former England international, who became a free agent after leaving West Ham United at the end of last season, is expected to join the Bees on an initial 12-month contract, with talks progressing towards completion.

By combining Sangare’s long-term potential with Wilson’s Premier League experience, Brentford are continuing an ambitious recruitment drive as they prepare for the 2026/27 campaign.
