Egypt legend Mohamed Zidan believes the country will depend heavily on Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah as they aim to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The Pharaohs are the most successful team in AFCON history, having lifted the trophy a record seven times. However, their last triumph came in 2010, when they defeated Ghana 1-0 in the final.
Softfootball understands that the Liverpool star has already enjoyed remarkable success at club level, winning the Premier League and Champions League while also collecting several individual honours.

Zidan, speaking to Flashscore, believes Salah’s experience and quality could give Egypt a strong chance of ending their long wait for another continental title.
Salah has already accomplished so much. We truly hope he can now lead Egypt to victory in the African Cup.
The former Borussia Dortmund forward also recalled Egypt’s impressive run of three consecutive AFCON titles between 2006 and 2010.
The North Africans have since reached two finals but suffered defeats in both, leaving them desperate to reclaim the trophy.
Zidan is hopeful that Salah can inspire the current generation to bring the AFCON title back to Egypt.
