João Pedro is not considered a realistic alternative for Barcelona should the Catalan club fail to sign Julián Álvarez this summer.

Despite Barcelona sporting director Deco being a long-time admirer of the Brazilian forward, Chelsea have made their position crystal clear: João Pedro is not for sale under any circumstances.

The Blues regard the 24-year-old as untouchable and have no intention of entertaining offers this transfer window, regardless of the transfer fee proposed.

Softfootball reported back in May that new Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso viewed João Pedro as one of the club’s key players and acknowledged that elite European clubs such as Barcelona and Real Madrid could show interest in him.

However, Chelsea’s stance has remained unchanged. The club sees João Pedro as a central figure in Alonso’s long-term project and considers his departure this summer impossible.

With Chelsea refusing to negotiate, Barcelona will be forced to explore other attacking options if they are unable to complete a deal for Julián Álvarez.
