Former Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has revealed a humorous story involving his former teammates, Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, during their time at the club.

Speaking on a podcast, Vardy explained that the duo would sometimes travel briefly to Nigeria after picking up minor injuries, returning with what he described as a “juju cream” used in their recovery routine.

His exact statement:

They used to get injured, just little knocks, then they’d go back to Nigeria for one day, literally, come back, and then they’ve got a nice big tub of juju cream.

Softfootball, however, believes this “juju cream” could very likely be the popular Aboniki Balm a highly potent, fast‑acting topical analgesic and anti‑inflammatory ointment originally formulated in Nigeria by J.C. Udeozor Global Industries.

For over 35 to 50 years, Aboniki has been a household remedy across West Africa and is now widely used in the UK, US, and Canada due to the global African diaspora. It is known for its intensely strong warming and cooling sensations that penetrate deep into muscles and joints.

Vardy added that the cream was the only substance Leicester’s massage therapists were allowed to apply to the affected areas, with Ndidi and Iheanacho explaining that it had been obtained from a Nigerian witch doctor.
