Ruben Amorim equalled an unwanted Manchester United record after his side suffered a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United at Old Trafford in the Premier League, Softfootball reports.

Goals from Alexander Isak and Joelinton condemned the Red Devils to a fourth consecutive defeat, piling more pressure on the Portuguese manager during the early stages of his reign.

The loss was Amorim’s fifth in his opening eight Premier League matches in charge, matching the club’s worst start by a manager. He joins A.H. Albut, who set the mark in October 1892, and John Chapman, who equalled it in December 1921.

United’s latest setback leaves them languishing in 14th place in the Premier League standings, with concerns continuing to grow over the team’s form and consistency.

The Red Devils now face an even tougher challenge as they prepare for a trip to Anfield, where they will take on fierce rivals and league leaders Liverpool in their next league fixture.
