Manchester United legend Jaap Stam believes Chelsea star Cole Palmer would welcome the opportunity to play for the Red Devils in the future, despite acknowledging that a transfer now appears highly unlikely.
Palmer has established himself as one of the Premier League’s standout performers since leaving Manchester City for Chelsea, delivering outstanding displays and consistently contributing goals and assists.
Softfootball gathers Stam shared his thoughts during an interview with Sport Lens, expressing surprise that United failed to secure the England international before his value skyrocketed.

Reflecting on Palmer’s rise, Stam said:
Seeing the potential of Cole Palmer and him being just next door, you do wonder how Manchester United missed out on him, or maybe they did try and couldn’t get a deal over the line.
The former United defender believes Palmer’s current form has made him one of Europe’s most valuable young players, making any future transfer extremely difficult.
It would still be great to see him at Manchester United and, being a fan of the club, he’d probably like that to happen as well. However, in his current form there might not be any clubs who can afford him,
Stam added.
