Pep Guardiola has praised his Manchester City players’ performance despite a 2-0 defeat to Juventus in Wednesday’s Champions League clash, insisting there were plenty of encouraging signs.
Second-half goals from Dusan Vlahovic and Weston McKennie handed the Bianconeri victory, extending City’s alarming run of just one win in their last ten matches across all competitions.
Softfootball notes that Guardiola remained upbeat when speaking to reporters following the final whistle. He said:
We played good. Really, really good. The performance is there. We have done really, really well tonight.
We didn’t lose many balls that had happened in the past and we tried, we arrived in the positions.
The result leaves City languishing in 27th place after six games in the competition, with just two matches remaining to salvage their Champions League campaign.
Guardiola’s side now turn their attention to Sunday’s Manchester derby, looking to bounce back after a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace in their last league outing.
