Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane says he’s counting down the days to the newly expanded Club World Cup, where his side have been drawn alongside Benfica, Boca Juniors, and Auckland City.

The England captain spoke to Bayern’s official website about the tournament, which will feature a bigger field of clubs from across the globe than previous editions.

Softfootball understands Kane sees the competition as a fresh chance to test himself against elite opposition. Speaking via the club’s official website, he said:

I am very much looking forward to the new tournament, where we players can compete with the best in the world at club level.

Kane added that reaching the highest level of competition is something every top player craves, saying:

As a player you always want to play at the highest level. I’m really excited about the games and who the first winner of the new format will be.

The Bayern forward, who has yet to win a major trophy at club level, will be hoping this new tournament offers him the silverware that has eluded him for most of his career.
