Akwa United responded after the restart through Chijioke Alakwe, who restored parity nine minutes into the second half and briefly raised hopes of a comeback.

In Port Harcourt, Rivers United bounced back to winning ways with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Kano Pillars. Aniekeme Okon’s 31st-minute strike proved decisive as Finidi George’s men reclaimed top spot on the NPFL table.

At the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina United edged Sunshine Stars 1-0 thanks to Ahmed Abdultaofik’s winning goal.

Meanwhile, El-Kanemi Warriors and Bayelsa United shared the spoils in a goalless draw in Maiduguri.
