Super Eagles and Paris FC forward Moses Simon has revealed that he was dropped by Enugu Rangers because he is not Igbo, recounting one of the most painful moments of his early football journey.
Speaking in an interview on Urban Dwell, the Kaduna‑born Benue‑Idoma winger explained that despite impressing during trials, he was denied a professional contract due to ethnicity.

He said he trained with Rangers for three months, even captaining the screening team, before being unexpectedly told he would not be signed.
In his words:
I went to Rangers International and trained with them for three months. I wasn’t signed, but I was training with them. In fact, I was the captain of the screening team.
One day, I was called and told I was dropped because I am not Igbo. They used to call me ‘Onye Hausa’.
An Igbo guy who came and trained for just one week was given a professional contract, and I was told it was because I am from the North.
Softfootball understands this incident was one of the major challenges Simon faced early in his career before eventually breaking through and going on to represent the Super Eagles at the highest level.
