Real Betis have officially secured the signing of Fran García from Real Madrid and immediately protected their new acquisition with a €50 million release clause.
The 26-year-old left-back completed his move after Betis agreed to pay €4 million for 50% of his economic rights, while Real Madrid retained the remaining 50% through a future sell-on clause. García has signed a four-year contract that will keep him at the Benito Villamarín until June 2030.
The agreement comes less than 48 hours after Softfootball exclusively reported that the two Spanish clubs had reached a full agreement, with only the final formalities remaining before the transfer was completed.
A product of Real Madrid’s academy, García gained valuable La Liga experience during his spell at Rayo Vallecano before returning to the Santiago Bernabéu. However, limited first-team opportunities prompted the defender to seek a fresh challenge where he can secure regular playing time.

Betis view García as an important addition to Manuel Pellegrini’s squad, with his attacking instincts, pace and top-flight experience expected to strengthen the club’s options at left-back.
The inclusion of a €50 million release clause reflects Betis’ confidence in the Spaniard’s long-term value while ensuring the club is well protected should Europe’s elite come calling in the future.
