Super Falcons midfielder Toni Payne has described the tattoo of Nigeria’s map on her body as her favourite, saying it represents her deep connection to her roots.

The Everton midfielder explained that the body art has become a powerful symbol of her identity, especially after strengthening her bond with Nigerian culture through her experiences with the Super Falcons.

Speaking in an interview with ESPN Africa, Payne revealed that growing up in the United States sometimes left her feeling disconnected from her Nigerian heritage. However, representing the national team and making frequent trips to Nigeria have helped her embrace her roots more than ever.

Softfootball understands that Payne views the tattoo as a permanent reminder of her heritage and the journey that has brought her closer to the country she proudly represents on the international stage.

“My favorite one is the shape of Nigeria. I love this one,” Payne said.

She added that the tattoo eliminates any doubt about where she comes from, as it proudly reflects her identity wherever she goes.

“Growing up and being born in the US, I didn’t always feel connected to the Nigerian culture, but since joining the national team and being able to go back to Nigeria often, I’ve been able to connect in that way.

“So, I just love to have it, and no one can question where I’m from; they don’t even have to ask, they can see,” she said.
