Former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero believes Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal possesses greater natural talent than Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior ahead of Saturday’s El Clasico.

The Argentine legend praised Barcelona’s renowned youth system and highlighted the positive impact new manager Hansi Flick has had on the squad. Softfootball understands that Aguero believes Flick’s demanding approach is helping the club’s young talents reach new heights.

Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Aguero described Yamal as an exceptional talent whose maturity on the pitch goes far beyond his age.

He noted that the 17-year-old plays with the composure and intelligence of a much older player, adding that his vision, passing range, teamwork and defensive contribution make him stand out among football’s brightest young stars.

Aguero, however, stressed that Yamal’s long-term success will depend on his mentality and continued development over the coming years.

Comparing the youngster with Vinicius Junior, Aguero admitted that the Real Madrid winger remains one of the best players in the world, thanks to his experience and impressive collection of trophies.

Despite that, the former Argentina international insisted he prefers Yamal’s natural footballing ability, arguing that the Barcelona star possesses qualities that are difficult to teach and are rarely seen in players of his age.

He concluded that while Vinicius has achieved more in his career, Yamal’s talent gives him the potential to become one of the game’s greatest players in the future.
