André Onana Completes Trabzonspor Return After Falling Out of Manchester United Plans. André Onana is set to spend another season in Turkey after Manchester United reached a verbal agreement with Trabzonspor over a new loan deal for the Cameroon international.

Meanwhile, Softfootball earlier reported Manchester United’s city rivals Manchester City are making headlines of their own after reportedly agreeing a record-breaking £116 million deal with Nottingham Forest for England midfielder Elliot Anderson, who had also attracted interest from United earlier this summer.

The move comes after it became clear that Onana is no longer part of Manchester United’s plans for the 2026/27 campaign under head coach Michael Carrick. Trabzonspor, impressed by the goalkeeper’s performances during his previous spell, moved quickly to bring him back, with the Turkish club agreeing to pay a loan fee while the final contractual details are completed.

Onana made 29 appearances for Trabzonspor last season after leaving Old Trafford on loan following Manchester United’s shock EFL Cup elimination to League Two side Grimsby.

Signed from Inter Milan in 2023 for £47.2 million, Onana still has two years remaining on his Manchester United contract. However, with Senne Lammens firmly established as Carrick’s first-choice goalkeeper, the Cameroonian accepted that regular opportunities at Old Trafford would be limited.

The goalkeeper had originally been due to report back for pre-season training on 9 July, but his return to Trabzonspor now appears imminent as the clubs finalise the paperwork.

With United reshaping their squad and City continuing to strengthen under incoming manager Enzo Maresca, both Manchester clubs remain at the centre of another busy summer transfer window.
