Spain international Samu Omorodion has revealed that he believes God directed him to join Porto instead of Chelsea during the summer transfer window.

Softfootball understands that Omorodion was close to completing a move to Chelsea before the deal collapsed, leaving the young forward to consider another option before the window closed.

The striker eventually signed for Porto from Atletico Madrid close to deadline day, in a move that gave him a fresh opportunity to continue his development.

Speaking with Spanish outlet RTVE, Omorodion admitted that the summer was a difficult period for him because of the uncertainty around his future.

The forward explained that he was very close to joining Chelsea, but believes the move failed for a reason.

According to him, if the transfer did not happen, then it was because God did not want him to take that path.

Omorodion also expressed gratitude to Porto for giving him an opportunity when things appeared difficult.

He said he is now happy with where he is and has decided to leave the disappointment of the failed Chelsea move behind him.

The young striker added that his full focus is now on what lies ahead at Porto as he looks to prove himself and continue growing as a player.

For Omorodion, the failed Chelsea transfer may have been painful at the time, but he now sees his Porto move as the right step in his career.
