Inter Miami CF will look to continue their strong home form when they host Philadelphia Union at Nu Stadium on Sunday in MLS action.

Miami head into the clash after a 2–0 victory over Portland Timbers, a result that marked their first regular-season win at Nu Stadium and lifted them to second place in the Eastern Conference, just two points behind leaders Nashville SC.

Casemiro would also be heading to Inter Miami, as reports suggest that the deal for the Manchester United midfielder is now in the final stages.

Lionel Messi also delivered another standout performance earlier in May as Inter Miami CF secured a dramatic 5–3 victory over FC Cincinnati in a high-scoring MLS encounter at TQL Stadium.

Under coach Angel Guillermo Hoyos, the Herons now have the opportunity to secure consecutive regular-season home victories for the first time since October last year. They are also chasing back-to-back home clean sheets for the first time since early 2024.

Inter Miami have remained unbeaten in their last five meetings with Philadelphia across all competitions and have won each of their previous three MLS home matches against the Union.

Inter Miami has gone ahead to post a promotional graphic on their X handle in high anticipation for one of their most important matches.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia’s campaign has taken a dramatic downturn under head coach Bradley Carnell. After topping the Eastern Conference in 2025, the Union currently sit bottom of the standings and have already suffered nine league defeats this season.

The visitors are also struggling badly away from home, conceding multiple goals in six of their eight MLS road games this year, while risking a fourth consecutive away defeat in league play.

Team News

There is one injury concern for Miami heading into this weekend as Tadeo Allende will likely be sidelined with a knee injury.

Lionel Messi has five goals in his last four regular-season affairs as he and German Berterame netted in their victory over the Timbers.

In Philly, Frankie Westfield has a sore hip, Quinn Sullivan is questionable due to a knee issue, Japhet Sery Larsen has a shoulder problem, Eddy Davis is dealing with a hamstring strain and Jesus Bueno is unlikely to feature because of an ankle injury.

Olwethu Makhanya will be suspended for this contest, while Milan Iloski had their only strike in a draw with the Crew.

Match Predictions

Softfootball predicts Inter Miami 3-1 Philadelphia Union

The Union’s backline in 2026 are a far cry from a year ago, and a side as creative and decisive in front of goal as Miami should be able to make them pay.
