Levante will head into the final day of the La Liga season knowing that survival remains within touching distance as they travel to La Cartuja to face Champions League-bound Real Betis on Saturday evening.

The visitors boosted their survival hopes with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Celta Vigo earlier this month, a thrilling encounter in which Ferran Torres scored twice before Levante eventually secured all three points. Luis Castro’s side followed that result with another crucial win against Mallorca last weekend to climb out of the relegation zone at the perfect moment.

Carlos Espi opened the scoring in the 2-0 victory over Mallorca with his 10th La Liga goal of the campaign before Kervin Arriaga sealed the result late on in a fiery contest that also saw Roger Brugue and Johan Mojica sent off for violent conduct.

Levante have now won six of their last nine league matches and arrive on the final day sitting 15th in the standings, two points above the relegation zone in a tightly contested survival battle involving five clubs.

The Granotes only require a point to guarantee their place in La Liga for next season, although even defeat may not necessarily condemn them depending on results elsewhere. Levante’s official X account also shared training-ground images this week as the squad prepared intensely for the decisive fixture.

Real Betis, meanwhile, have already secured fifth place and qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League. Manuel Pellegrini’s side wrapped up their top-five finish with a narrow victory over Elche before seeing a seven-match unbeaten run ended by champions Barcelona last weekend.

Despite the defeat, Betis have enjoyed another excellent campaign under Pellegrini, achieving a sixth consecutive top-seven finish since the Chilean manager arrived in 2020. Los Verdiblancos also remain unbeaten in their last 10 home league matches at La Cartuja.

Levante are unable to call upon Unai Elgezabal and Carlos Alvarez due to injury issues, while Roger Brugue is suspended following his red card against Mallorca.

Levante’s survival motivation could make this a difficult encounter for Betis, but the hosts have been extremely strong at home and possess greater attacking quality.
