Aston Villa Crowned Europa League Champions as Emery Makes History

Aston Villa were crowned UEFA Europa League champions after a stunning 3–0 victory over SC Freiburg in Istanbul, securing the club’s first European trophy since 1982.

Softfootball gathered that Goals from Youri Tielemans, Emiliano Buendía and Morgan Rogers sealed a dominant performance at the Besiktas Stadium as Villa completely overwhelmed the Bundesliga side.

Tielemans opened the scoring with a superb volley from a Morgan Rogers cross, before Buendía curled a brilliant strike into the top corner moments later. Rogers then added a third after sliding home another dangerous delivery, effectively ending the contest before the hour mark.

Unai Emery once again cemented his legendary status in the competition by lifting the Europa League trophy for a record fifth time. In a remarkable twist, every club he has won the competition with has contained “Villa” in the name — Sevilla FC, Villarreal CF and now Aston Villa.

Villa captain John McGinn controlled midfield throughout, while Emiliano Martínez produced key saves to preserve the clean sheet.

The triumph caps a remarkable season for Villa, who also secured a top-five Premier League finish and Champions League qualification for next season. Emery’s transformation of the club over the past three-and-a-half years has now delivered major European silverware.

Fans erupted online after the final whistle, with many hailing Emery as the true “King of the Europa League” following yet another masterclass on the continental stage.
