Port City FC have been crowned Access Bank Division One League Zone Three champions after a thrilling 3–2 victory over WAFA SC at the Kukurantumi Ohene Park, Softfootball confirms.
This achievement comes shortly after the GFA strengthened international ties with a strategic visit from Bryant University as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The title-clinching win, confirmed and reposted by the Ghana Football Association on thier official X handle, caps off a remarkable campaign for Port City, who had already secured promotion to the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League with games to spare.

They posted:

WAFA opened the scoring early through Sylvester Henyo, but Port City responded quickly as Kedzie Korblah Junior equalised from the penalty spot. Alex Boateng then put the hosts ahead before captain Hamza Zakaria extended the lead to 3–1 in the second half. Melchizedek Frimpong pulled one back late on, but it proved only a consolation.

The victory confirms a historic milestone for Port City, who will now compete in the Ghana Premier League for the first time in their history.
As this is going on, the Confederation of African Football has confirmed that the AFCON 2027 qualifiers will run from September 2026 to March 2027, with the draw set for May 19, where Ghana will discover their group opponents.
