Bayer Leverkusen have secured the long-term future of defender Edmond Tapsoba after he agreed to a new contract that makes him one of the highest-paid defenders in the Bundesliga.
The Burkina Faso international signed the new deal after the club rejected strong interest from the Premier League, including a €40 million bid from an English side. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared the update on his official X handle:
Fabrizio Romano reported;
EXCLUSIVE: Edmond Tapsoba has agreed to sign new contract at Bayer Leverkusen, here we go!
Salary will be increased at highest level for a defender, as Leverkusen rejected a €40m bid from Premier League.

This new deal gives a big boost to the team as they enter an important stage of the season. Head coach Kasper Hjulmand now has more stability in defense as the club pushes for success.
Across Europe, the focus on top performance is clear. Paris Saint-Germain forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia recently said his team must “give 100%” ahead of their Champions League semi-final clash with Bayern Munich.
While Leverkusen have secured one of their key players, Bayern Munich are still making decisions about their squad. Nicolas Jackson’s agent, Diomansy Kamara, has spoken about the striker’s future after Bayern decided not to activate the €65 million option in his loan deal. He said the player is “100 per cent focused” on finishing the season, but his future remains open for a possible summer move.
Softfootball believes that once the contract is officially completed later this week, Tapsoba will stay at the club until at least June 2031. Reports also suggest the deal includes a release clause of around €100 million.

The official announcement is expected before Leverkusen’s DFB-Pokal semi-final against Bayern Munich. With Tapsoba now committed for the long term, the club is in a strong position to compete for major trophies under Hjulmand.
