Real Madrid have issued an official statement firmly denying rumors about appointing a sporting director, reinforcing their trust in the club’s current leadership structure, Softfootball reports. This was confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on his official X handle.

The response comes after reports suggested potential structural changes at the club. Madrid dismissed the claims, pointing to the success achieved under their existing model, which has delivered six UEFA Champions League titles in the last decade.

Romano stated:

Real Madrid communicates that rumors on considering incorporating a sports director into its structure are categorically false. Real Madrid extraordinarily values the work that the club’s sports management has been carrying out, which has allowed us to live through one of the most successful periods in our entire history with the achievement of numerous titles, including 6 European Cups in ten years.

Club president Florentino Perez continues to favor a streamlined hierarchy rather than adopting the traditional sporting director system used by many European clubs. The statement highlights confidence in the current sporting management, emphasizing stability and continuity despite recent speculation.

However, the development comes at a time of rising internal tension. Young defender Raul Asencio recently drew attention after publicly questioning a decision involving Alvaro Arbeloa, bringing internal concerns into the spotlight.

These discussions follow a period of inconsistency on the pitch, which has fueled conversations around possible managerial or structural adjustments. Despite this, the club’s firm stance signals a commitment to its current approach.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid face increasing pressure in both domestic and European competitions. With little margin for error, their upcoming clash against Girona carries significant importance as they aim to maintain momentum while balancing Champions League ambitions.
