Softfootball can confirm Newcastle United have reached an agreement in principle to sign Ecuadorian winger Johan Martínez from Independiente del Valle.
The move comes as Newcastle continue to focus on long-term squad planning, having also opened talks to secure a new contract for rising midfielder Lewis Miley, who has attracted interest from top European clubs.
This follows a difficult European outing for Newcastle, who suffered a heavy 7–2 defeat to FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 second leg on March 18, underlining the club’s need for stability and future investment.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his x handle, The 16-year-old, born in 2009, will officially join the Premier League club once he turns 18, with a verbal agreement already in place.
