Softfootball captured, A Facebook user, Innocent Tino, who has over 88,000 followers, shared a post suggesting that Nigeria’s World Cup bid may have received a lifeline. In his post, Tino wrote:
Wow. This is getting interesting. Nigeria’s bid to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has received a potential boost following fresh developments surrounding DR Congo’s eligibility in the playoff stage of the qualifiers.
The post was accompanied by a screenshot of a tweet from Africa Fact Zone on X (formerly Twitter), which alleged that Nigeria could qualify for the playoff final of the FIFA World Cup Intercontinental Playoff. The tweet further claimed that Nigeria had submitted a petition regarding the matter.

The development has sparked widespread reactions among football fans, particularly in the comment section of the Facebook post. One user, Ebuka Nnobu, jokingly remarked,
So Nigeria won qualify for the World Cup through back door.”
Another commenter, Usman Lawal, added humorously,
