Walker to leave City for AC Milan in loan agreement

Manchester City have reached an agreement with AC Milan for the loan transfer of their captain, Kyle Walker. The deal includes an option for the Serie A club to make the move permanent for €5 million (£4.2 million).

Walker, 34, has enjoyed a highly successful spell at City since joining from Tottenham for £50 million in 2017. During his time at the Etihad, he has collected 17 trophies, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League victory.

However, despite being appointed captain at the start of the season, Walker has decided to leave before the campaign concludes.

According to reports from Sky Sports Italy, Walker has agreed to a contract with Milan that will run until 2027 if the permanent transfer is finalized. The England international is expected to travel to Italy on Thursday to complete the move.

Earlier this month, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed Walker’s intention to leave. “Two days ago, Kyle asked to explore the options to play abroad at the end of his career,” Guardiola revealed.

“In his mind, he wants to experience a new challenge in another country for the last years of his career. For that reason, I prefer to play other players whose focus is here.”

AC Milan currently sit eighth in Serie A, trailing leaders Napoli by 19 points. In the Champions League, the club remains in contention for an automatic knockout spot, with two group-stage games left to play.

Walker’s arrival is expected to bolster their defensive options as they aim to improve their domestic and European standings.

This move signals a significant chapter in Walker’s illustrious career, marking his first foray into Italian football as he seeks new challenges in the latter stages of his playing days.
