Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has spoken openly about the uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s availability, expressing hope that the star winger will return and play a key role for the club for the remainder of the season, Softfootball Reported.
Speaking in a post shared on Liverpool’s official X account, Van Dijk said:

We all hope that Salah is coming back and being important for us for the rest of the season. But on the other side of it we all know football and we have no idea what’s going to happen. I hope he stays because he’s one of my leaders, very important for us.

The Dutch centre-back’s comments come amid speculation about Salah’s plans following the Africa Cup of Nations. The winger has been a pivotal figure for Liverpool, contributing crucial goals and assists in both domestic and European competitions, and his presence on the pitch has been instrumental in the team’s recent form.
Van Dijk highlighted Salah’s leadership on and off the pitch, emphasizing the importance of having experienced players in the squad during key moments of the season. His message reflects the collective hope in the Liverpool dressing room that the Egyptian forward remains committed to the club’s objectives.

As Liverpool continue their campaign across the Premier League and Champions League, the focus remains on maximizing squad strength and maintaining consistency. While uncertainty remains, Van Dijk’s remarks underscore Salah’s influence as both a leader and a match-winner.
Liverpool will look to capitalize on the momentum built before the international break, but Mohamed Salah will be unavailable for several key fixtures as he departs to join Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
