Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his right knee.

The 26-year-old has made only one appearance this campaign due to the persistent issue, which first occurred during pre-season. Softfootball reports that his rehabilitation is expected to last until the end of the year.

Tomiyasu initially had a procedure in August but required further intervention as problems with the knee continued.

He described this period as the toughest of his career but remained positive about his recovery. The Japanese international thanked fans for their support and promised to return to the stadium soon.

The injury adds to Arsenal’s growing list of absentees, including Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, and Ben White. Mikel Arteta’s side currently sits second in the Premier League, seven points behind leaders Liverpool, as they prepare to face West Ham at the Emirates Stadium.
