Super Eagles winger Moses Simon produced another impressive display, scoring and providing an assist, but it was not enough to prevent Nantes from suffering a 3-2 defeat to RC Lens in Saturday’s Ligue 1 clash.
Softfootball understands that Simon was one of Nantes’ standout performers, continuing his fine run of form in the French top flight despite his side leaving empty-handed.
Lens took the lead through Przemyslaw Frankowski before Simon restored parity for the visitors in the 36th minute with a well-taken finish.
The Nigerian then turned provider after the break, setting up Nicolas Cozza to give Nantes the lead with their second goal of the night.
However, Lens fought back late in the contest as fellow Nigerian Hamzat Ojediran scored the equaliser with four minutes remaining.
Adrien Thomasson completed the comeback in dramatic fashion, netting the winner on the stroke of full time to seal all three points for the hosts.
Simon’s latest contribution takes his tally to three goals and four assists in 10 Ligue 1 appearances for Antoine Kombouaré’s side this season, underlining his importance to Nantes’ attack.
