Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry has shed some light on how the UEFA Champions League keeps changing and getting a bit tougher every season.
As Bayern prepare for another important European night, his words capture the fine balance teams need, both in tactics and in mentality, to survive in this competition.
as reported by this club via their official X account.

He said:
The format doesn’t allow for much. We learnt that last season. The format doesn’t allow you to make many mistakes. Anything can happen in the Champions League, as we saw last year in Rotterdam. The Portuguese play good football, so it will be difficult tomorrow.
Gnabry didn’t try to sugarcoat it. And you can’t blame him. In the Champions League, one bad decision or one moment of switching off can just flip everything around.

He also mentioned how unpredictable things can get, hinting at how quickly the script can change, just like when Bayern recently lost 3-1 to Arsenal in their last Champions League game, as reported by Softfootball.
Also speaking ahead to their clash against Sporting,

Gnabry said:
Sporting are a very good team, they’ve won a lot of games. They have a lot of technical players and good attacking players. It’ll be a tough and good game
Gnabry also spoke about Bayern’s push for Round of 16 qualification.

He said:
The goal tomorrow is to get three points. Direct qualification would be good, so we can take a big step forward tomorrow. Then we’d have a break during the play offs. We’ve had a very good Champions League season so far.
Gnabry has grown into one of Bayern’s most experienced players, featuring in the club’s recent 3-1 victory against St Pauli in the Bundesliga; he remains a key player for Bayern this season, both in the league and in a Champions League that seems to get more ruthless every year. Players like him show why every moment actually matters.
