Sancho wages stall Juventus and Napoli transfer talks

Jadon Sancho

Jadon Sancho’s future at Manchester United remains in limbo as wage demands continue to derail potential moves to top European clubs this summer.

Juventus and Napoli have expressed strong interest in signing the 25-year-old attacker, but both clubs have balked at his reported £250,000-a-week salary. While United are willing to let him go for a cut-price £25 million, Sancho’s current wages remain a major stumbling block.

Chelsea previously passed on making his loan move permanent for the same reason, despite Sancho’s decent spell at Stamford Bridge, where he registered five goals and 10 assists in 41 appearances. Fenerbahce are also monitoring the situation but, like others, are unwilling to match his Manchester United wages.

The player’s refusal to lower his salary demands is effectively pricing him out of a move to Serie A. Man United, in turn, are left in a difficult position. With no interest in another loan deal—which would still require them to cover part of his wages—they’re desperate for a permanent transfer to recoup some of the £73 million spent on Sancho in 2021.

Despite receiving £5 million from Chelsea via a penalty clause for not making the move permanent, United need more funds and can’t afford another stagnant summer involving the English winger. However, unless Sancho reconsiders his wage stance, both he and the club could face another frustrating transfer window.
