Saka wins Arsenal Goal of the Month for August with thunderous strike against Leeds

Softfootball reports that Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has won the first Emirates Goal of the Month award for the new season following his stunning finish against Leeds United.

The England international produced the standout moment in the 5-0 victory at the Emirates, latching onto a precise pass from Jurrien Timber before smashing a fierce effort from a tight angle past Lucas Perri. The strike collected 45% of the total votes, edging out Viktor Gyökeres’ first goal for the London side.

Saka’s award-winning finish was one of several highlights from a dominant display by Mikel Arteta’s side. Summer signing Gyökeres also impressed, scoring twice, first with a low drive after cutting in from the left and then from the penalty spot after Max Dowman was brought down inside the box.

As released on Arsenal’s X handle, Saka’s goal was when he fired past Leads’ goalkeeper Lucas Perri for the Gunners’ second in the five-goal thriller. Watch the video below:

Saka has been ruled out for weeks after being injured during Leeds’ game, which denied the English player the privilege to play against Liverpool before the international break.

As Arsenal resumes this weekend, Saka is likely to remain sidelined for the London side against Nottingham Forest, who have just appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new manager. Saka has only scored one goal for the Gunners so far in two games this season.
