Ruben Amorim Chooses Ayden Heaven Over Lindelof

Ayden Heaven, an 18-year-old centre-back, was handed his first senior start for Manchester United by manager Ruben Amorim in the Europa League second leg against Real Sociedad. The youngster was preferred over Victor Lindelof, who was named on the bench.

Heaven joined United from Arsenal on February 1, signing a four-and-a-half-year deal. His debut came in the FA Cup defeat to Fulham, followed by his first Premier League appearance against Arsenal last Sunday, where he came off the bench.

Amorim explained that Heaven’s impressive performance against Arsenal played a key role in his selection. The manager praised the defender’s confidence and composure, stating that he is ready for the big stage.

Paul Scholes, working as a TNT Sports pundit, shared his thoughts on Amorim’s decision. While he felt Lindelof was unlucky to be dropped, he acknowledged Heaven’s solid display and believed the young defender deserved the opportunity.

Heaven operated on the left side of a back three against Arsenal, showing strength in defense and comfort on the ball. Amorim was impressed with his aggressive style and calmness under pressure.

Amorim is confident in Heaven’s potential and sees him as a valuable asset for the future. The England U19 international has already made two appearances for his national team and is viewed as a rising star.

Lindelof’s future at United remains uncertain, with the Swedish defender expected to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season. Reports suggest a potential return to his former club, Benfica.

With Heaven now earning his first senior start, fans are eager to see how the young defender will perform in a crucial European fixture for Manchester United.
