Onyedika lost the prize to Zakaria El Ouahdi, the KRC Genk defender, who succeeds former teammate Tolu Arokodare as the best African player in Belgium this season.

Despite not winning the award, Onyedika’s performances this season have still earned him praise, especially for his consistency in midfield and his growing importance for both club and country.
