Former Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey is set to complete a switch to La Liga side, Villarreal after completing his medical, Softfootball reports.
The Ghanaian left Arsenal at the end of last season following the expiration of his contract. The 32-year-old joined Arsenal from Atletico in 2020 for £45.4 million and if the deal is completed this week, he can face Arsenal this week in a friendly on August 6.

Renowned football expert, David Ornstein through his official X handle revealed that the Spanish outfit are really close to wrapping up a deal for Partey.
He said:
“Thomas Partey set to join Villarreal as free agent. 32yo midfielder available after Arsenal contract expired + signing for #VillarrealCF on 2yr deal; #UCL football important factor. Ghana int’l has completed medical ahead of proposed move.”
Villarreal finished fifth with 70 points last season which ensured they qualified for the UEFA Champions League next season. That seems to have swayed the Ghanaian in choosing the club over Premier League sides.
Interestingly, the Ghana international was charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. He has denied the charges but will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5 despite working on a move to Villarreal.
Partey has been the subject of an investigation that first started in February 2022. He went on to feature regularly for Arsenal, making 167 appearances and scoring nine goals in the process.
Party and his representatives are confident that he won’t be found guilty and are going ahead with the Villarreal deal.
Partey played in the UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain where Arsenal got eliminated and was a key midfield member of Mikel Arteta’s side that finished second in the Premier League last season.
