Nigeria Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala has expressed her unhappiness over Morocco hosting major African football competitions, following the Confederation of African Football’s decision to stage both WAFCON 2024 and AFCON 2025 in the North African country.

Softfootball gathered that Oshoala made her feelings known via her X (formerly Twitter) account, where she questioned CAF’s repeated choice of Morocco as host for major tournaments and events.
This was her statement on X:
The big question here is when will this whole

compensation to Morocco end. Awards , tournaments n all……it’s getting boring now. We need other countries to step up. Everything concerning African football happens in Morocco , feels like that’s the new HQ
Oshoala’s comments come shortly after she had earlier warned the Super Eagles ahead of their AFCON 2025 semi-final clash with Morocco, suggesting the hosts were still hurting from their 3–2 defeat to Nigeria in the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final.
However, Morocco went on to eliminate the Super Eagles in the AFCON 2025 semi-final, winning 4–2 on penalties after a goalless draw. Nigerian players Bruno Onyemaechi and Samuel Chukwueze both missed their spot-kicks in the shootout.
Oshoala’s remarks have since sparked reactions among football fans, with many debating CAF’s tournament hosting decisions and the growing prominence of Morocco in African football administration.
