Leicester City have officially confirmed the appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy as their new First Team Manager, ending a search that followed the club’s decision to part ways with Steve Cooper earlier this week.
Softfootball gathered that the Foxes made the announcement through their official website on Friday, formally welcoming the Manchester United legend to the King Power Stadium after weeks of speculation linking him with the role.
In a statement, the club confirmed the terms of the appointment:
We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy as Leicester City’s new First Team Manager.
The 48-year-old Dutchman joins us with a wealth of experience at the highest level of the game, both as a player and a coach, and has agreed terms on a contract to June 2027.
The statement also outlined his immediate involvement with the squad.
Ruud will arrive in the UK in time to be in attendance for our Premier League trip to Brentford on Saturday, before assuming full First Team responsibilities from Sunday,
it added, with Leicester currently sitting just above the relegation zone.
