Super Falcons stars Chiamaka Nnadozie and Rasheedat Ajibade have both landed on the ten-player shortlist for the 2024 CAF Women’s Player of the Year award, CAF confirmed via its official X account on Wednesday.

According to Softfootball’s findings, the pair are up against a strong international field that includes Zambia’s Barbra Banda and Racheal Kundananji, South Africa’s Jermaine Seoposenwe and Thembi Kgatlana, Morocco’s Sanaa Mssoudy, Malawi’s Temwa Chawinga, and Burundi’s Sandrine Niyonkuru.

Nnadozie’s recognition doesn’t stop there — she’s also nominated for Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, one of ten contenders in that category.

Nigeria’s presence extends further still, with Sabastine and Okwuchukwu already shortlisted for Young Player of the Year, and Edo Queens duo Emem Essien and Monle Oyono in the running for Interclub Player of the Year.

Edo Queens themselves are chasing the Club of the Year prize, going head-to-head with Mamelodi Sundowns, AS Far, TP Mazembe, and FC Masar.

It adds up to a strong showing across the board for Nigerian women’s football heading into the December ceremony.
