Messi’s goal not enough as Inter Miami lose against Nashville

Nashville defeated Inter Miami 2-1 in the MLS play-offs despite Lionel Messi scoring, Softfootball reports.

The Argentine who scored a brace in the previous game where Inter Miami beat Nashville 3-1 was on for 90 minutes but couldn’t help his side with the needed win which now forces a third play-off game.

Inter Miami were disappointed by the result as they shared the result on their official X handle.

Nashville were really up for the match and got a penalty in the seventh minute when was masterfully scored by Sam Surridge. It was his first goal in the play-offs after three appearances.

The rainy and cold weather seem to have affected Inter Miami as they never dominated play as usual. Although, Luis Suarez had a shot struck the post then a superb cross from Jordi Alba was completely missed by his teammates in front of goal.

The home side scored a second goal through Josh Bauer just before half-time. With time running out for Inter Miami, Messi pulled one back in the 89th minute, but it was not enough to avoid defeat as the home side defended very well to ensure for a 2-1 victory.
