Manchester United’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo remains alive despite Brentford rejecting a second transfer bid worth £55 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons. The Brentford star, however, has made his intentions clear—he only wants to join United this summer.
After already landing Matheus Cunha from Wolves, United are continuing to reshape their attack under new manager Ruben Amorim. Mbeumo, who netted 20 Premier League goals last season, is seen as a key piece of that rebuild.
Interest in the Cameroon international is high, with Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham all monitoring the situation. But according to The Athletic, Mbeumo has directly informed Brentford and his former boss, Thomas Frank—now at Spurs—that he won’t consider any offer other than one from Old Trafford.

Tottenham had been tipped to try and lure the forward to North London following Frank’s appointment, but Spurs have reportedly not made a formal offer. Despite the standstill, negotiations between Brentford and United are ongoing, with both parties optimistic about finding a resolution.
Mbeumo and Cunha scored 35 league goals combined last season—just nine fewer than United’s entire Premier League tally of 44. Adding firepower has become a top priority for Amorim, whose side struggled in front of goal throughout the 2024–25 campaign.

Goalkeeper changes may also be on the horizon. Amid continued doubts over Andre Onana’s consistency, United have been linked with Emiliano Martinez, Diogo Costa, and Marco Carnesecchi. Former Red Devils defender Gary Pallister backed a move for Martinez, calling it a “no-brainer.”
With Mbeumo pushing for a move and United eager to strengthen key areas, this could be a defining summer in the club’s bid to rebuild for a return to elite contention.
