Manchester United says goodbye to Marcus Rashford after Barcelona loan move

Manchester United have said their goodbyes to their academy graduate, Marcus Rashford who joined Barcelona some days ago on loan. Softfootball understands that the Englishman might left the club finally as Barcelona have the option to buy the winger for £30m if they so deem fit at the end of his loan deal.

Rashford was a part of a list of players that United wanted to leave the club this summer. The other players include – Antony, Jadon Sancho, Tyrell Malacia, Alejandor Garnacho. Rashford had also caught interest from Fenerbahce but the English international was reported to only want a move to Barcelona.

United on their verified X handle posted a goodbye message to the United star who adorned number 10 jersey at club now worn by new signing Cunha. The post read:

“Marcus Rashford has joined Barcelona on a season-long loan.

“Best of luck, Marcus 👊”

Since making his Reds debut in 2016, the 27-year-old Academy graduate has registered 426 appearances, scored 138 goals and lifted five major trophies.

Marcus spent the second half of last season on loan with Premier League side Aston Villa, where he played 17 times and tallied 10 goal involvements across all competitions.

The England international has now agreed a temporary move to Spanish giants Barcelona.

On United’s website, a statement read:

“Everyone at Manchester United wishes Marcus good luck for the season

United had brought in two new signings into the club in a bid to revamp the squad to fit in Amorim’s style for next season. They brought in Matheus Cunha from Wolves and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford both players costing over a £100m.

The club is reportedly still in search for a striker, a goalkeeper and a winger. Nicolas Jackson who Chelsea have slapped a £100m is a reported to be a big target for United. It is left to see who the Red Devils who bring in before the end of the transfer window.
