Manchester United are on the verge of securing their second major signing of the summer, as a deal for Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford nears completion. The transfer, which could reach £63 million with add-ons, is expected to be finalized soon.
The Cameroonian forward has reportedly turned down offers from Tottenham, Arsenal, and Newcastle to join United, making the switch after a standout 2024-25 season where he scored 20 goals and contributed nine assists in 42 appearances.
According to the London Evening Standard, United will pay a base fee of £55 million, with an additional £8 million in potential performance-related bonuses. If the deal reaches its full value, it will surpass the £62.5 million that Ruben Amorim’s side paid for Matheus Cunha earlier this summer.
Mbeumo is expected to earn £250,000 per week, placing him among the top earners at Old Trafford. He is set to link up with his new teammates on July 7 for pre-season training and may make his unofficial debut in a friendly against Leeds United on July 19.

His arrival will offer manager Ruben Amorim another attacking option, as the 25-year-old is likely to be deployed in a number 10 role within the club’s 3-4-3 setup. He is also expected to work in tandem with Cunha and a potential new striker.
Over his time at Brentford, Mbeumo amassed 70 goals and 51 assists in 242 appearances across all competitions. In the Premier League alone, he delivered 42 goals and 30 assists in 136 games—highlighting his value as both a scorer and creator.
With the season opener against Arsenal set for August 17, Mbeumo could debut for United in one of their most high-profile fixtures. His signing signals United’s intent to revamp their attack as they aim for a stronger league campaign under Amorim.
