Branthwaite set to stay as Everton near long term contract

Everton are reportedly finalising a long-term deal with Jarrad Branthwaite, dealing a major setback to clubs eyeing his signature this summer. The 23-year-old centre-back has been at the centre of intense interest from top Premier League sides, including Manchester United and Chelsea.

Despite having two years remaining on his current contract—plus a one-year extension option—Everton are keen to shut down transfer speculation by offering Branthwaite an improved five-year deal that would extend his stay until 2030.

Softfootball gathered that Jarrad Branthwaite discussions with Everton are said to be in the final stages, and an official announcement could come as early as next week.

Both Chelsea and Manchester United have monitored Branthwaite closely, with the Red Devils making unsuccessful bids last summer. Tottenham and Liverpool were also linked, but all interested clubs may now have to turn their focus elsewhere.

Branthwaite’s decision to remain at Everton comes despite missing out on recent England squad selections. While some believed his international ambitions would drive him to a club competing in Europe, Branthwaite appears content to anchor Everton’s defence during their upcoming campaign.

His choice reflects a long-term commitment to Everton’s rebuild and a belief that consistent performances at club level could still earn him a spot on England’s World Cup roster.

Manchester United are reportedly set to sign Everton striker Beto, with Softfootball earlier reporting the club’s interest as part of their efforts to reinforce the forward line this summer.

The Red Devils are exploring the addition of a more physical, traditional centre-forward — a profile that has been notably absent from their squad in recent seasons.

With the club having largely relied on dynamic forwards and false nines, Beto’s presence could offer a new dimension to United’s frontline.
